I was put off by comments like this and the Academy subject initially. Imagine how big of a battlefield we could get then, while also keeping the fun gameplay with the camps and different routes to the goals.Īs for the story, whatever floats your boat. The submaps were pretty neat IMO and I wouldn't mind to see them making a return in 4 on a larger scale. Ultimately it's usually enough to have one guy defend your base camp while the rest is left to head for the goal or look for the enemy, it creates a sort of a frontline that you have to maintain. It arguably makes it so you need to think a bit more about who to deploy when and where instead of just rushing the maps. The only real gameplay issue 2 has is the 6 character limit, but 3 fixes that with 9 characters available. However, we would all be fine with playing the lackluster game as it is.Ģ and 3 are upgrades in gameplay for the most part, customisation and classes in particular, and they look pretty good on the PSP, decent enough if upscaled on PC. We may even get a remake to make it better. We just want to be able to play the game for what it is. We all know about the downgrade in quality and the cliches. Virtually everything about it is a downgrade.

In summation, VC 1 is the best in this series (until 4 come out at least).

I do not know how VC 3 compares to VC 1 or 2 but being on the PSP, I know that the visuals are probably just as bad. Have fun trying to get through that folks. So if there are 5 sub areas, the player has to assaign 1 soldier to each map to make sure the enemy doesn't capture their base and that 1 soldier has to deal with occasionally, multiple tanks and soldiers because the enemy AI is allowed multliple units per map. Maps are small and split into 4-5 sub areas and the amount of units that the playar can have on the battlefield has been slashed in half. The 3D sprites lack so much geometry that they don't even look like their character in the 2D profile. I think the downgrade in visuals is to be expected (This is a PSP game afterall) but the graphics in VC 2 are UGLY as hell. The lack of urgency displayed in the story also ruins whatever stakes might have been present. The plot trogs at a very slow pace and is bogged down because you often have to complete side missions before getting to the main story mission (I'll go over this in more detail when I get to the gameplay). The rest of the cast is either forgettable or utterly unlikable and unfortunetely they won't die.

A stoic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who wants to get stronger so he can become a hero for the Darcsen.okay not quite like Sasuke but similar in most regards. Cosette is Sakura, the girl who is great with studies and gets pouty when boys don't recognize true love and she is training to become a medic just to make that Sakura profile complete. A head strong, overly positive individual who wins battles by shere luck and stubborness and sucks at school studies. Our 3 protagonists are a copy/paste job ripped streight from the Naruto series. Where as VC 1 gave us an interesting ragtag band of militia soldiers, VC 2 puts us in the most cliche highscho.*ahem* "Military Academy" that you've ever seen, complete with school uniforms and short skirts. All of that is virtually scrapped in VC 2. The story of VC 1 was cheesy but it was also endearing and very engaging.

I own VC2 for the PSP and trust me when I say this people: This game is NOT worth porting at all.
